What is NAPNES?



The National Association for Practical Nurse Education and Service, Inc. (NAPNES) is dedicated to promoting and defending the practice, education and regulation of Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVN), Practical Nursing Educators, Practical Nursing Schools, and Practical Nursing Students. NAPNES has constituent state members throughout the United States.



NAPNES is the oldest association that advocates the practice, education and regulation of practical and vocational nurses. In fact, they are the organization that is responsible for the legislation that provides for the licensure, and education of practical nursing in the United States.



How is the certification program affiliated with NAPNES?

The NAPNES certification program has been developed in accordance with the NAPNES national standards. The NAPNES national standards have the mark of excellence in certification programs and are above minimum licensure standards for licensed practical / vocational nurses.



What benefit is a NAPNES certificate to my career?

NAPNES certifications have availed LPNs/LVNs the ability to measure their knowledge against a national test and offers a post-licensure credential that many employers desire.

The NAPNES certification designation confirms to employers that you engage in professional skill-building. Many employers may pay an additional hourly rate to nurses who have this national certification.



Who is eligible to take a certification program?

The LPN/LVN NAPNES certificate programs are available for LPNs/LVNs whose license is in good standing. There are other specific Health Care Professions like RT, Paramedics, etc. that can take the licensed exams in the Licensed Professional Certification.

The certification courses are available to the general public but only those that hold the designation of LPN/LVN are eligible to become certified by NAPNES.



What are the requirements for admission to the NAPNES certificate program?

Requirements for the LPN/LVN NAPNES certificate programs:

LPN/LVN must have a license in good standing
LPN/LVN must register with NAPNES before registering for a certificate program; This registration can be made on the www.nursingcerts.com website prior to purchasing the Certification course.



Are the certification programs approved in my state?

The certification course is currently approved by the National Association for Practical Nurse Education and Service (NAPNES). Please check with your State Board of Nursing for state specific information.

How long will it take me to complete a certification program?

Program completion time varies from person to person because the course is delivered online and is self-paced. You have six (6) months of access to the Certification course once purchased. Although each certification program is open for six months, program completion is typically much faster.



What do I have to do to complete a certification program?

To complete a certification program, you will need to complete self-study modules, read and study the text, answer corresponding questions in the study guide, complete the end-of-module post assessments, and pass a multiple-choice final exam that is proctored by Castle Testing (Long-Term Care, IV Therapy, and Pharmacology) or Innovative Academic Solutions (Rehabilitation).



When can I start a certification program?

You can start a certification program whenever you like. All you need to do is to complete the registration process with NAPNES, order your textbook, and then purchase the course after which you will receive an email denoting your course enrollment with log-in instructions. Please note you will be issued a separate email with a user name and password for the NAPNES Registration.



Who teaches the certification programs?

There is not an instructor for certification programs. They are self-learning and online, self-paced certification programs. All of the information you need to learn will be made available in and online certification program and associated textbook.

The course can be accessed anywhere you have an internet connection and can be accessed by any device (smartphone, tablet, MAC, personal computer, etc.)



What books are used for the certification programs?

Each certification program will have the individual textbook titles available for purchase. You will find a link to our online bookstore within the course overview page for each certification course we offer.

When you get to the bookstore, click the “Order You Books” button, add a check in the box next to NAPNES Certification, click the “Continue” button, and choose your certificate. From there you can find the book(s) that you need for the course.



How do I purchase the books for the certification programs?

You will find a link to our online bookstore within the course overview page for each certification course we offer or you can navigate directly to our online bookstore www.IASbookstore.com. When you get to the bookstore, click the “Order You Books” button, add a check in the box next to NAPNES Certification, click the “Continue” button, and choose your certificate.

From there you can find the book(s) that you need for the course. You can purchase the textbooks from our bookstore or any other source so long as you use the ISBN # to order the textbook as to ensure you have the correct edition.



What technology do I need for a certification program?

You will need a computer with a minimum of 512mb RAM, Microsoft office 2003 (with Word and PowerPoint applications), Internet Explorer 8.0, Flash 10.0, Adobe Reader, Windows Media Player 11.0, an email address, and a high-speed internet connection (dial-up is not functional). You should also have access to a printer. Virus protection software is highly recommended. The course can be accessed by any device (smartphone, tablet, MAC, personal computer, etc.)



What are all the costs associated with certification?

NAPNES Registration valid for three (3) years
– Course (Cost varies dependent on certification course)
– Textbooks (Cost varies dependent on certification course)
– Third Party Certification Testing



How do I set up my Certification testing?

After course completion, contact NAPNES through their website (www.NAPNES.org) to let them know you have completed your preparation and NAPNES will arrange for your certificate exam testing through a third party testing center.



Can I obtain a refund?

All sales and NAPNES registrations are final. There are no refunds once you have registered with NAPNES or purchased the online certification course.
