NAPNES LPN/LVN Pharmacology Certification (PC)



The NAPNES Certification in Pharmacology (NCP) has been successful for more than 30 years.

The NCP has allowed LPNs/LVNs to measure their knowledge through successful exam completion and NAPNES offers a national, post-licensure credential that many employers require.

Since the mid-sixties, the NAPNES Certification in Pharmacology has been a mark of excellence and a certification above the minimum standards for licensure of LPNs/LVNs.

This certification program introduces LPNs/LVNs to the principles of pharmacology and medication administration.

Drug classifications, medication assessment, procedures for administration, and dosage calculations of medications and intravenous fluid rates are covered. Safety precautions, guidelines, and documentation are discussed.



Drug classifications and their effect on the various body systems are presented in this certification program. Specific drugs in each classification are emphasized according to expected effects, side effects, allergic and adverse effects.



Routes of drug administration and variables that influence drug action are covered throughout the certification program. Medication calculations will be required to demonstrate knowledge of safe dosing parameters.

Safety precautions which will assist with decreasing the incidence of errors in medication administration are stressed.
